Find the Best Florida Speech Pathology Program for You

If you’re thinking about applying to a speech language master’s program from a Florida-based school, several on-campus and online options exist throughout the state.

To determine which is the best one for you, you may want to consider various factors starting with accreditation by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (ASHA). This national recognition helps ensure the program provides a high-quality educational experience that prepares you for entry into the field of speech language pathology. All Florida speech therapy programs listed below are ASHA accredited.

The requirements for an SLP license vary by state. In Florida, applicants must meet the educational requirements of an approved program and complete an approved supervised clinical practicum totaling at least 300 clock hours of supervised experience, with at least 200 of those hours in speech-language pathology. For full, current requirements, visit the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.

Review a program’s admission requirements and curriculum to help determine if the coursework aligns with your interests, and explore tuition costs and financial aid opportunities if necessary. Based on these factors and your career goals, becoming an SLP professional may be worth the time and money investment.

On-Campus and Online Speech Pathology Programs in Florida

When searching for ways to earn an SLP degree in Florida, you will find at least eleven ASHA-accredited speech therapy programs with a physical location in Florida (including Florida-based programs plus Florida satellite locations). Most Florida programs are primarily campus-based, but multiple programs offer distance (i.e., online) education. For example, Florida State University, the University of South Florida, and Nova Southeastern University list online education as an approved modality. More than one Florida program reports study abroad opportunities, for example, Florida State University and Jacksonville University.
