Although there are only three SLP programs in Connecticut accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), each offers unique opportunities worth exploring. There are also online speech pathology master’s programs. 

To help in your search for the right SLP program in Connecticut for you, listed below are the on-campus speech pathology programs, along with facts about each school. 

Sacred Heart University (SHU) is located less than an hour from Manhattan in Fairfield, one of the oldest towns in Connecticut. SHU ranks among U.S. News & World Report’s Best U.S. Colleges and has received recognition from The Princeton Review for its community service. 

Sacred Heart University offers a Master of Science in speech-language pathology, with two on-campus, full-time tracks (completed in two or three years). Students can earn a specialty certificate in Medical Speech-Language Pathology or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Located in New Haven, Southern Connecticut State University offers a full-time Master of Science in speech-language pathology that students with prerequisite coursework can complete in two-year or three-year programs.

With the largest university speech pathology clinic in Connecticut, SCSU students can participate in three on-campus clinical service programs in addition to off-campus settings. 

The University of Connecticut is located in Storrs, about an hour from Boston. UConn offers a Master of Arts in speech-language pathology.

The full-time program is typically completed in two years by students who hold a bachelor’s degree in speech, language and hearing. It is usually a three-year program for students with non-SLP undergraduate degrees. Upon admission, students select either a thesis or non-thesis study option.
